I just adore these shopper baskets, stylishly designed, so beautiful yet robust enough to carry the heaviest of loads.
These are part of a project created to reduce poverty in the Bolgatanga and Bongo region of Ghana. They are made by a cluster of women’s weaving groups as a supplementary income or indeed a sole family income during the dry season when farming activities have quite literally dried up.
I have absolutely fallen in love with their unique African charm, the fact that no two baskets are the same, their subtle use of colours, the fact they are made with all natural materials that thrives in the savanna and tropical regions of Ghana.
