The Potting Shed is named as it’s literally a repurposed Potting Shed in my yard, it was first established in 2014 as a seasonal business to provide Wreath Making Christmas Workshops.

Today thankfully it’s a thriving floristry business creating bespoke, exquisite, whimsical and seasonal floral instillations and bouquets. Over the years we have extended our floral offering to include indoor pots, outdoor pots, seasonal herbs, plants and an extensive gift offering. I remember a lovely lady told me “you can’t be everyone’s flavour of ice cream, so be your own flavour of ice cream”.
So as a result I choose every item with loving care and stock nothing in the shop that I wouldn’t have or use in my own home or garden.

My ethos is to use gorgeous, pretty, seasonal flowers that can say so much, can mark many special occasions and that can bring so much joy.

My mission is to provide our products in as a sustainable way as possible, our bouquets are delivered in glass vases which can be returned for reuse or refilling. I upcycle and recycle where possible and I avoid the use of single use plastics, all my packaging and stationery is brown craft paper or cardboard.

Wedding and Event flowers

Everybody’s wedding is a very very special day and it’s always a privilege to be asked to be a part of it. I really feel no two weddings should ever be the same so all my wedding flowers are individually designed for each couple. As a result I only take on a few weddings each year. They are always inspired by nature and flowers are chosen to reflect seasons. My ethos of creating natural, whimsical, romantic and abundant floral displays is never more evident than in my wedding work.

Bouquets made to order

Flowers have the unique ability to either say so much or nothing at all, they stir up a wide range of emotions from love to grief. Flowers are a way of sending a hug and or a smile when things could be better. Flowers bring so much joy and enhance any celebration. My flowers are always seasonal, abundantly produced in glass jars or vases it’s my way of trying to decrease the use of single use packaging.

Farewell flowers

Farewell flowers are often the saddest but the most rewarding and important flowers that I have the honour of creating, they should always be personal and significant to the family. They are a celebration of the person who’s life has been taken so cruelly or an acknowledgment of a life well lived. They are a parting gift as loved ones say their final goodbyes. I always spend time with loved ones to find out things about the person that I can recreate in their farewell flowers.

Wreath making workshops

Christmas Wreath Making workshops was originally why I set up the Potting Shed. I cannot remember a time in my life when I didn’t make a wreath for my door and I wanted to pass on this utter joy to anybody who wanted to learn. Workshops are still the mainstay of my business today and have become very popular, it really is a lovely morning spent in my workshop creating a masterpiece for your front door, it’s also an amazing activity to do with a group of colleagues as a team building exercise. As door wreaths have become more popular, I now make bespoke wreaths throughout the year for client’s doors and I truly believe a beautiful door wreath is the first thing somebody sees when they approach a house and it needs to be beautiful, abundant and a seasonal statement piece.
